The food signs are not so good
It’s no secret that we crazy peas love food. I talk about food in almost every post. We enjoy a variety of foods from around the world, and there isn’t much we haven’t tried if we have the opportunity to do so.
On this trip however, we know ahead of time that our food experience will probably not be as good as other trips. Our last international trip to Southeast Asia didn’t disappoint food-wise. Scandinavian however, is less know for its native food than its natural beauty and culture. Any trip to Asia that doesn’t include a mention of food isn’t complete. Look up top things to do in Norway, and food won’t be as high on the list.
We will reserve judgement until the end of the trip, but so far on this airline, the signs for a good food-trip are not so promising. When you fly on different airlines to different destinations, the airlines will try to give you a sampling of the local cuisine. Go on Thai Airways and you’ll get come curry. Singapore will have their unique forms of fried rice, veggies, etc. China Air will delight with buns and others might even have dim sum.
We don’t consider it a good sign that there really was no choice of food on this airline besides the teriyaki chicken. I guess in some ways it makes sense, we would’ve liked a choice of say, salmon, which should be ubiquitous in the Scandinavian countries. However, not everyone east salmon, and it feels like 99% of non-vegetarians eat chicken. Yay teriyaki chicken, which seems to have become the common option for those airlines that don’t represent their own home countries cuisine in the sky.
(We understanding that choosing to not serve lye fish on the plane is a good choice).
