Fight for iPad dominance
In flight entertainment sure has changed a lot over the years. As I sit here on the plane, everyone is watching something different on their mini TVs. It’s so nice to be able to pick video-on-demand from over a dozen movies spanning decades of film and various languages. There’s games, TV shows, and lots of music to keep everyone entertained.
Still… A good chunk of users carry their own devices, with their own music, books, and videos. We crazy peas are no different. The iPad Pro has become essential to our inflight experience. We grab a few movies for each trip just to ensure we’re covered in case we’ve seen all of the inflight stuff (which hasn’t been the case for several years now). We like the iPad screen more since its way larger still, and we get subtitles!
This time though, Beta and I were both trying to get our own independent use out of the iPad. I’m trying to get more posts written so I don’t fall behind so early in the trip. She’s trying to finish The Room 3, which, by the way, is an excellent game. There’s a reason it’s got thousands of reviews and 5 stars. Beta can’t seem to let go of the iPad with all of the crazy puzzles to solve. She still relies on her Alpha’s help every now and then.
Gone are the days of a stack of magazines and coordinated in-flight movie watching. We don’t miss it, and though we’ve gained a lot in convenience and personal entertainment, people will hardly remember just how cool it was to strike up a conversation with a stranger from far away that you’re sitting next to.
