Flying with No Spirit

As we are waiting here to board our flight, I gotta take some moments to tell the peanut gallery about the wonderful experience of flying with Spirit Airlines. Hopefully this post will not be read by anyone operating the plane we're about to board…

I've flow a lot, and on lots of different airlines. This is the very first where I have to pay for my carry on luggage. I know that air travel has turned into a lot of nickle-and-dime tactics for how to squeeze more money out of travelers but this feels like a new low. Don't get me wrong, it's annoying when people try to stuff a full size suitcase into the carry on compartment, and I understand the need to cut costs but $55 for my carry on??? Not to mention, it was a bit of a surprise to find this out while we were getting our boarding passes printed at the kiosk. The kiosk also noted that any luggage fees that need to be paid at the gate (i.e., some unlucky traveler didn't read the fine print ahead of time), would be $100 instead of pre-paying $55. Other restrictions also include a single carry on of a specific size that seems smaller than other airlines.

I hope the service and flight runs smoothly…. Uh-oh, spoke too soon, looks like our flight is delayed. This is not looking well. Readers beware when flying the no-Spirit airlines.
