First lunch aboard Richard With

After we got into our rooms we decided to explore the ship a little bit.  It didn’t take much time for us to do so, the ship isn’t that large.  As with other cruises the cruise card really is the only access you need for everything.  I’ll put more details on the ship and our experiences in the Hurtigruten page.

For now, check out Beta’s thoughts on our first lunch aboard the Richard With:

Lunch on ship. Buffet style. Scan your ID and sit down anywhere. We grabbed a plate of spring mix. First plate of greens we’ve seen in two days?! A couple of interesting dishes. We tried the reindeer stew, it had small pieces of Rudolph (sorry kids around the world, no gifts this xmas?), sausages, cubed carrots and what looks like potatoes but may be turnips?! You can taste a slight gamey-ness in the reindeer but not bad. At the salad station, there were these sun dried tomatoes that tasted like no sun dried tomatoes I’ve ever had. The tomato texture is the same, these were soaked in olive oil but the taste… My face was puckered up for a good ten minutes after I stuffed it in my mouth. Super sour but not a pleasant sour either. Can’t quite describe it.

Not the best tomatoes…

More to come later…
